I am the Practice Manager for Wensum Valley Medical Practice and I have worked in the area for over 20 years. I was delighted when I was asked to bring my management skills and knowledge of the area to the Henderson Board. I have a particular interest in supporting services to meet the needs of marginalised groups. I am a great believer in how the people and the community can and should shape the services they use and I would like to see more of this approach in the future.

My work-history is mainly with the Careers/Connexions Service in Staffordshire, Cheshire, and Norfolk. I am proud to say that since 2010, I have been a Trustee at the Henderson Trust, a Governor in a local primary school and I am now a Governor in a local Secondary Academy where I am the Link Governor for the SEND department. I also volunteer for Norfolk Youth Offending Team and I am a panel member supporting young people who have been given a ‘Referral Order’ by the Courts. One of my favourite pastimes is walking on the North Norfolk coast with my Boxer dog.

I was born in Costessey, went to school in Wymondham and then went to City College Norwich. In 1993 I set up my own office equipment company, Copyprint (EastAnglia) Ltd which is still going strong. I am the Chairman of the Mid-Norfolk Branch of Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and Chairman of Buy Local Norfolk, a not-for-profit social enterprise to help local businesses. I am keenly passionate about supporting people from the Henderson Trust area that want to start or grow their own business, and regularly meets with MPs and local authority leaders to talk about local business issues.

I am originally from Norwich where I trained as an accountant. After my training I moved to London where I worked for a number of professional and commercial companies in a variety of roles including that of company accountant and financial controller. In the year 2000 my wife and I returned to Norwich and I had several jobs both part-time and full-time, until I retired in 2004. I feel singularly honoured to be asked to become a trustee of the Henderson Trust and look forward to continuing working with the Trust to provide a service to the community.

I am Norfolk born and bred and have lived in West Earlham for over 26 years. I am married, three children, four grandchildren who keep me almost as busy as I was before I retired from the Civil Service. I am a co-director of A.W.Electrical Services (Norwich) Ltd and I have worked as a volunteer on boards including the West Norwich Partnership (now incorporated within the Henderson Trust) and the West Norwich Credit Union I take my role at The Henderson Trust very seriously, firmly believing that those involved now really believe in the Henderson ethos. My aim is to change other peoples' perceptions of this area, especially the media because there is so much to be proud of!
